During its session on Monday, November 2, 2026, the Montmélian Municipal Council addressed several important topics. These included an opinion on the departmental plan for the accommodation and housing of travelers for the period 2027-2030, developed by the Prefecture of Savoie, as well as the town's municipal energy report for the year 2025.
Regarding the departmental plan, the State recommends maintaining the permanent 26-place reception area in Montmélian and creating a 100-place large-scale passage area in Myans. The Municipal Council issued an overall favorable opinion, but with reservations. The municipality of Montmélian supports the creation of the large-scale passage area but cannot give a favorable opinion against the views of the communes of Myans and Saint-Jeoire-Prieuré regarding the location. Furthermore, the commune regrets that the financial burden is not shared through departmental solidarity.
The 2025 energy report showed a continued decrease in energy consumption by 8% compared to 2024, reaching 3,210 MWh. This reduction is attributed to thermal renovation work, the installation of photovoltaic panels, and optimization of public lighting. Despite the decrease in consumption, expenses rose by 45% compared to 2021 due to increased energy costs, totaling €592,979.
The electricity consumed by the Town is now 100% green and 56% local, thanks to photovoltaic installations and a collective self-consumption operation. The commune also produced 253 MWh of renewable electricity and is developing a heating network in Cœur de Savoie.
Finally, the Municipal Council voted on operating subsidies for 2026, allocating €142,640 to 84 sports, cultural, social, and memorial associations. The town also supports sports and cultural activities for young people by covering half the membership cost for those under 18.
Other routine matters were addressed, including an amendment to the contract for the Health Center project, budget entries, and information on complementary social protection for local government agents.
