Abandoned waste, cigarette butts, and dog waste are recurring issues for the residents of Neuville-sur-Saône. These observations were reinforced during recent Mayor's Cafés, moments of direct exchange between citizens and elected officials. It is in this context that the desire to organize a significant event dedicated to cleanliness and civility was born.
The Municipality views this initiative as an illustration of citizen participation: listening to residents, understanding on-the-ground realities, and translating these exchanges into concrete actions. The goal is not to replace municipal and metropolitan services but to highlight the importance of simple individual gestures in preserving shared spaces.
The Town aims to raise awareness without guilt-tripping, prevent incivilities, and foster behavioral change, while continuing its efforts in maintenance and improving the living environment.
On Friday, November 13, an event will take place at the market in Neuville. Elected officials and prevention and sorting ambassadors from the Metropolis of Lyon will host a stand dedicated to cleanliness. On Saturday, November 14, the mobilization will continue at Place Ampère, where the Town will present information and figures on local cleanliness issues, alongside the Metropolis's stand. A participatory survey is also underway to gather residents' perceptions and define priorities.
A citizen and intergenerational clean-up walk is scheduled for Saturday morning, starting from Place Ampère. Beyond the actual collection, this walk has an educational purpose: to concretely observe incivilities and discuss their impact on our living environment. Residents, families, young people, associations, and elected officials are invited to participate in this friendly gathering.
These two days represent a first step before a larger mobilization planned for the spring. They aim to raise awareness, gather observations, and identify new avenues for action, in a process of listening, understanding, and joint action to preserve the quality of life in Neuville.
