For its 10th edition, the Archaeology Days event will bring together archaeologists, researchers, museums, heritage associations, and the general public at the Salle Georges-Brassens in Tournon-sur-Rhône. The event, celebrating ten years of discoveries, will cover a wide range of historical periods, from Prehistory to the ancient era, including the Bronze Age and the Middle Ages.
The program includes presentations on human occupation in the Gorges de l'Ardèche, the environment of the Combe d'Arc since Prehistory, the caves and quarries of La Jaubernie in Coux, as well as the initial findings from the archaeological study of the Cistercian barn of Chabrolières in Planzolles.
The day will conclude with a major conference on Neanderthals in Ardèche. Marie-Hélène Moncel, research director at the CNRS, will discuss the diversity of Neanderthal strategies between 250,000 and 40,000 years ago, based on the sites of Payre and the Abri du Maras.
This event is open to all enthusiasts of archaeology, heritage, or simply those curious about the history of Ardèche.
