The Balance Workshops, offered to seniors in Saint-Alban-Leysse, aim to prevent falls, maintain balance, and preserve autonomy. A presentation conference was held on Tuesday, September 15, to detail the program and answer participants' questions.
This support program focuses on maintaining physical abilities and autonomy. The sessions aim to stimulate balance function, encourage reflection on concrete daily situations, and provide keys to better prevent fall risks. The initiative also encourages participants to pursue physical activity independently after the workshops, with referrals to local stakeholders for sustained practice.
The workshops specifically help to stimulate balance function; prevent falls and better handle daily situations; maintain physical capacities; provide concrete tools for daily action; encourage autonomous and lasting physical practice; and contribute to preventing loss of autonomy.
The program includes 13 sessions, running until December 15, 2026. An initial assessment is conducted to adapt exercises to each individual's abilities, followed by a second assessment at the end of the program to observe participants' progress. The sessions are led by Yolaine CHAMPIGNEULLE, municipal councilor and member of ADAL.
This initiative is free for participants thanks to funding from Atouts Prévention Rhône-Alpes, a social and medico-social cooperation group (GCSMS) that notably includes Carsat. Organization and follow-up are managed by the CCAS – Relais seniors of Saint-Alban-Leysse, with registration and communication handled by Émilie Excoffon and Stéphanie Vuillermet.
If this first edition is successful, a new session could be considered next year.
