The exhibition is the result of a year-long immersion by photographer Tim Douet within the UFR STAPS (Faculty of Science and Technology of Physical and Sports Activities). This artistic residency, part of Lyon 1's 5th edition of the Arts & Sciences program, focused on the theme "Inclusive Perspectives".
Tim Douet explored research laboratories, training grounds, gymnasiums, and classrooms to capture the nuances of sport beyond performance. "Sport is never just about performance or rules. It is also a space where representations of the masculine and feminine meet, confront each other, and sometimes blur. A space where power dynamics, habits, resistances, but also new ways of being together, are shaped.", explains Anaïs Viand, exhibition curator.
The photographer focused on bodies, but also on words, gazes, postures, and silences, seeking to reveal how we each take our place among others. "Each image was thus conceived as a breath, a space for pause", comments Tim Douet.
The exhibition resonates with the Lyon Contemporary Art Biennale and is labeled as part of the Bicentennial of Photography. An opening reception and a photo café are also planned.
Galerie Domus, located at Bâtiment Domus (ground floor) on the Campus de la Doua, 31 avenue Pierre de Coubertin in Villeurbanne, is accessible by tram lines T. 1 and T. 4 (stop Université Lyon 1). Entry is free from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 4:30 PM. Access is via the parking side, and ring the intercom "SGAS / Domus".
Dedicated to photography and contemporary art, Galerie Domus was created twenty years ago by university staff and alternates between emerging and more established artists.
