By decree of October 29, 2026, the Prefect of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region and Rhône has enacted the return to an enhanced alert situation for the west of the Rhône department and the Lyon Métropole, marking an exit from crisis. This decision follows a positive trend in water resources.
The prefect calls for collective responsibility and civic-mindedness, inviting everyone to continue limiting their water consumption and respecting the current restriction measures. The preservation of this resource is deemed essential to secure drinking water supply and guarantee essential uses, in a context of lasting drought.
The implementation of the enhanced alert leads to an easing of the restriction measures that were established by the decree of August 10. It is recalled that the enhanced drought crisis represents the highest alert level of the system.
The prefectural system provides for four levels of drought alert: vigilance, alert, enhanced alert, and crisis. Each level is associated with specific measures.
