François-Xavier Lalèyê, a doctoral student at the Education, Cultures, Policies (ECP) laboratory of Université Lumière Lyon 2, received the award for best workshop at the inaugural VetEd Europe event held in Budapest in September 2026. He also participated in a panel on veterinary education in Europe.
During this event, which brought together veterinary education specialists, François-Xavier Lalèyê led a 90-minute workshop on Devinekoi, an internationally recognized educational game created at the veterinary school in Dakar. He also presented Jevois, a game designed to relearn anatomical terms and medical vocabulary for wounds.
These workshops aim to showcase possibilities for innovation and creation, even in environments with limited resources. The conference, organized by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, united teachers, clinicians, researchers, and specialists in undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary training.
Current challenges in veterinary education include addressing the mental health of students and educators, and the rapid rise of artificial intelligence. These issues require thoughtful reactions and actions to provide specific solutions to broader problems.
