The national ceremony for the 'Active & Sportive City' Label was held on October 22, 2026, in Paris, at the headquarters of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF). The City of Genas received the distinction of 3 laurels, confirming its commitment to sport and physical activity for all.
Organized by the National Council of Active and Sportive Cities (CNVAS) under the patronage of the Ministry of Sports, Youth, and Associative Life, this label distinguishes local authorities that make sport a strong focus of their public policy. Already awarded in 2020 and 2023, Genas retains its 3 laurels, highlighting over twenty years of action in favor of developing sports practices.
This national recognition values an ambitious policy based on quality facilities, a diverse sports offering, and the dynamism of the local associative fabric. It also demonstrates the municipal will to make sport a lever for well-being, social cohesion, and fulfillment for all residents.
In Genas, sport is accessible to all audiences and generations, from the youngest to seniors, through schools, childcare facilities, and proposed activities. With over 60 activities and an active associative network, everyone can find a discipline suited to their desires.
The municipality has various facilities such as gymnasiums, football and tennis fields, boules courts, a skatepark, a BMX track, outdoor fitness areas, and sports trails. The City continues its investments, notably with the future Gilbert-Lamothe gymnasium (5 million euros) scheduled for next spring, and the renovation of the Joanny-Collomb school, which includes new spaces dedicated to motor skills.
“"The renewal of the 3 laurels thus rewards a proactive sports policy, based on access to sport for all, the quality of facilities, and the constant support provided to associations that keep Genas sport alive on a daily basis."
