The Prefecture of Puy-de-Dôme has granted a derogation concerning the obligation to establish a plant cover between two crops for the 2026-2027 season, following a request from the Chamber of Agriculture.

Faced with an agricultural season marked by water shortages and unfavorable conditions for the success of plant covers, the Chamber of Agriculture of Puy-de-Dôme has obtained a derogation from the Prefecture. This measure aims to provide flexibility for agricultural holdings and to prevent farmers from having to justify the absence of cover during an inspection.
Specifically, for the 2026-2027 season, it will not be mandatory to establish a plant cover between two crops when a spring crop is planned in 2027. This derogation applies to long inter-crops that are usually subject to the requirement of establishing a cover (CIPAN or CIVE).
However, farmers are reminded that they must note the use of this derogation in their practice registration book (spreading book or plot register) to be compliant in case of inspection.
