Until October 2nd, Mines Saint-Étienne is hosting the inter-institutional diploma (DIE) « Grandes transitions : mesurer et comprendre pour agir » (Major Transitions: Measuring and Understanding to Act). This program, offered by the Collège des hautes études Lyon – Sciences (CHELS), examines contemporary challenges through a multidisciplinary lens.
The DIE is open to students from various backgrounds, with no specific prerequisites. It is often pursued alongside a degree program or during a gap year, comprising a semester of coursework followed by a six-month internship.
The current cohort of 12 students is engaging in this program focused on reflecting on and analyzing climate transitions, working alongside the school's research faculty at Mines Saint-Étienne.
The curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, structured around three core areas: measuring and monitoring impacts, understanding major transitions, and taking action for change. Participants develop a systemic, transdisciplinary perspective crucial for navigating the complexities of the modern professional environment.
CHELS, which unites eight centers of excellence including Centrale Lyon, emlyon business school, and Sciences Po Lyon, aims to enhance students' career prospects through combined expertise. It fosters curiosity and broad knowledge via the DIE, lifelong learning modules, and a public lecture series, this year themed 'Uncertainty and the Uncertain'.
By hosting this initiative, Mines Saint-Étienne reinforces its commitment to educating responsible professionals capable of addressing the intricate complexities of major transitions.
