The University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA) has launched the "CiC Joint Research Seed Grant" 2026 call, offering funding of up to €6,000 for joint research projects with partner universities in the international Campus in Campus (CiC) network.

The international network Campus in Campus (CiC), initiated by the University of Tsukuba in 2014 and comprising 14 universities, aims to facilitate the sharing of research and teaching resources without national or institutional barriers. In 2025, a new initiative was established to support the initiation and/or consolidation of joint research projects.
For this 2026 call, UGA projects must systematically involve the University of Tsukuba (Japan) and/or the National Taiwan University (Taiwan), in addition to another CiC partner. Participating institutions also include Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, National Chene Kung University, Ruhr University Bochum, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and the University of Bordeaux.
The disciplinary priorities for 2026 cover Health, Life Sciences, and Society (medical sciences, biology, precision medicine, ethnic diversity, healthcare, sports science, global society), Advanced Science and Technology (AI, quantum computing, robotics, chemistry, materials science), and Environment, Sustainable Development, and Resilience (smart agriculture, environment, energy, disaster prevention).
Project leaders, who must be UGA researchers or permanent researchers affiliated with UGA laboratories, must submit their project proposals in English. There are two options for identifying a partner team: either an existing team has been identified, or the partner will be selected through a matchmaking process by the program coordinators. The maximum grant amount awarded by UGA is €6,000 per project, covering international travel, hosting researchers, international events, and supplies.
Projects will be evaluated based on scientific quality, feasibility, potential for securing further funding, and the relevance and quality of the international partnership. The submission deadlines are October 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM and November 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Results are expected in December 2026, with projects to be implemented from December 2026 to December 2027.
