Recognizing that millions of phones lie dormant in drawers while many people lack equipment, the city invites its residents to drop off their still-functional devices. The goal is to limit electronic waste and facilitate digital access for low-income individuals.
The manufacturing of digital equipment consumes precious resources. Reusing them helps reduce waste, delay device replacement, and limit electronic waste. Collected equipment will be handled by Emmaüs Connect, refurbished in Isère, and personal data will be securely erased before being offered at solidarity prices.
This initiative also supports job creation in solidarity refurbishment sectors, employing individuals in integration programs. A solidarity sale is planned during the Digital Fortnight.
Accepted devices must be functional, less than 10 years old, and ideally come with their original charger. Smartphones, laptops, and tablets are sought. Broken devices or desktop computers are not accepted. For non-functional devices, recycling centers with WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) facilities are recommended.
Before donating your device, it is advisable to back up your important files and disconnect your personal accounts (iCloud, Android) and access codes.
Donations can be made from November 2nd to 28th, 2026, at the media libraries (during opening hours), neighborhood centers (with specific Saturday drop-off times on November 14th, 21st, and 28th), and the reception of the Maison communale (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 12 PM and 1:30 PM to 5 PM).
