Art cabinetmaker Nicolas Vuillod presents his "Bureau-Forêt", a unique piece exhibited since September 25th at the Musée Dauphinois, enriching the "De tous bois" exhibition until April 2027.

Based in the Grésivaudan valley, art cabinetmaker Nicolas Vuillod has been exhibiting his "Bureau-Forêt" since September 25th. This singular work was created during a residency that took place between April and September 2026. It now complements the exhibition "De tous bois, ébénistes Hache et création contemporaine", which runs until April 2027.
This new section allows visitors to follow the artist's creative process, from 3D sketches and material selection to trials and videos of his work in the workshop, culminating in the presentation of the "Bureau-Forêt".
The creation residency began with a call for submissions to cabinetmakers in the region. Among the many artisans with diverse talents, Nicolas Vuillod was selected by a jury comprising heritage experts, an art historian, designers, a representative from Agence Isère Attractivité, specialized trainers from the Compagnons du Tour de France, and professionals from the wood industry in Isère.
Nicolas Vuillod's approach is resolutely contemporary, combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative digital technologies. Inspired by the work of the Hache family, his creation is an allegory of the forest: the upper surface evokes a leafy landscape, the curved lower surface alludes to the undulating ground, while the connecting stems form an imaginary forest, and the legs resemble trunks or roots.
