Opened last February to concretely address the challenges of medical desertification, the Municipal Health Center of Viry was officially inaugurated on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Elected officials, institutional partners, and local professionals gathered to celebrate the realization of this major project for residents' access to care.
Born from a clear desire to guarantee proximity and quality healthcare for every resident, this center responds to the shortage of doctors in many municipalities. The town of Viry has actively committed to creating this health structure.
Postponed due to the electoral period, this official inauguration brought together all partners and acknowledged the collective work that led to the success of this large-scale project. The event began at 6:30 PM at the Municipal Health Center with a tour of the premises, followed by the ceremonial part at the shared living space Le Ginkgo.
Several official speeches were given, highlighting the importance of this structure for the territory. The Mayor of Viry, Cédric MERLOT, along with Florent BENOIT, President of the Communauté de Commune du Genevois (CCG), Virginie DUBY-MULLER, deputy, Cyril PELLEVAT, senator, and representatives from the ARS (Lionel TARDY and Reynald LEMAHIEU), the CPAM (Héloise SIROTKIN), the GRCS, the CHANGE, and Teractem spoke before the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Although the Municipal Health Center is fully operational and already welcoming its first patients, the work continues. Premises remain available within the structure. The town of Viry is actively pursuing its efforts to recruit new general practitioners to strengthen the existing medical team and expand healthcare services.
