This significant project aims to enhance the safety and cohabitation among the various users of the Voie Verte, which is experiencing steadily growing traffic. The total length of the improvements spans 15.3 kilometers, divided into eight phases.
Modifications include increasing the cycling lane width from 3.2 to 5 meters, creating a 1.3-meter pedestrian lane on the lake side, and removing the center line to reduce accident risks. A light-colored vegetal coating, with a 70% lower carbon footprint on average compared to traditional asphalt, will also be applied to distinguish the Voie Verte from the roadway.
The project also includes various amenities such as rest areas, vegetation planting, urban furniture installation for user comfort, and informative signage.
Co-financed at 50% by the SILA and 50% by the Department of Haute-Savoie, the works are carried out annually from mid-October to mid-March. The project completion is scheduled for spring 2032.
Phase 3, costing 2.2 million euros for 2.3 kilometers, will commence on October 12, 2026. Traffic on the Voie Verte will be partially interrupted from October 12 to November 2 on a 700m section at Sevrier (route des Grand Près). Subsequently, a complete closure will be in effect between the route des Grand Prés in Sevrier and the route du Laudon in Saint-Jorioz from November 2.
A diversion route will be implemented for users during the closure periods.
The works on phases 1 and 2, inaugurated in April 2025 and May 2026 respectively, have already contributed to improving significant sections of the path.
