Loïc Renand, originally from Samoëns, was crowned Best Craftsman of France (MOF) in Cuisine on October 8, 2026, joining the 13 laureates of this 28th edition.

The final stages of the 28th session of the "Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France" (MOF) competition, in the Cuisine category, took place from October 6 to 8, 2026. Among the 13 new laureates is Loïc Renand, a native of Samoëns, whose family still resides in the village.
Established in 1924, the MOF competition recognizes professional excellence. In cuisine, candidates face technical, organizational, and creative challenges. Out of over 500 initial participants, only 42 reached the finals, and 13 ultimately earned the title after a 5-hour test.
Loïc Renand trained at the Savoie Léman Hotel School in Thonon-les-Bains. He then honed his skills with renowned chefs such as Régis and Jacques Marcon and the Troisgros establishment. He also spent over 7 years at L'Auberge du Père Bise, where he rose to become sous-chef and right-hand man to chef Jean Sulpice.
More recently, he served as Executive Chef for the Beyond Places group, overseeing establishments like Maison des Drus, an innovative concept comprising 18 high-altitude restaurants in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc valley.
The municipal council of Samoëns extends its sincere congratulations to Loïc Renand for this significant achievement and wishes him continued success in his professional journey.
