After a year of rehabilitation, the autumn school holiday break saw the children of the Saint-Exupéry kindergarten integrate their newly refurbished wing. The Mayor Jacques Grandchamp and the deputy for childhood, youth, and education, Jocelyne Charpentier, were present to greet families and teachers.
This third and final phase of work included the complete renovation of classrooms with new furniture, the creation of a motor skills room, and the construction of a northern extension housing two additional nap rooms and offices.
Thermal and energy efficiency were also addressed with the creation of a south-facing covered area, the installation of UV-blocking film on the entire south facade, replacement of joinery, installation of 190 m² of photovoltaic panels on the roof, and the commissioning of a geothermal heat pump providing a cooling floor for the new part of the school.
Construction will continue for a few more weeks with landscaping and finishing work on the upper floor, notably for the future library and documentation center (BCD).
In addition to the new spaces, families discovered the new school access located near the stadium, away from the departmental road. This development will eventually allow for the safe drop-off of children and will facilitate soft mobility (pedestrians, bicycles) thanks to its greenway. The automobile lane and landscaped parking are under construction and expected to be delivered in the coming months. With the construction of the multidisciplinary health center nearby, the entire neighborhood is evolving.
