Deployed via the BlaBlaCar Daily app, this innovative service allows users to request a ride in advance or in real-time from designated stops along the RD 1005. Passengers will simply need to scan a QR code at the stop to signal their presence to drivers.
The journey is completely free for passengers. Drivers, on the other hand, will receive compensation ranging from €1.50 to €2.50 per passenger, depending on the distance traveled.
Designed specifically for commuting, this new service will be particularly suitable during peak hours, from Monday to Friday, between 6 AM and 9 AM and from 4 PM to 7 PM.
Several figures illustrate the importance of carpooling in the Thonon Agglomération area: approximately 25,000 carpooling trips were recorded in 2025, with 30% on the RD 1005. Nearly 20,000 vehicles use this road daily. Furthermore, 15,000 people are registered on BlaBlaCar Daily in connection with the area, with 4,000 active users.
HéLéman Thonon complements existing transport solutions and is part of the carpooling network development of the Pôle métropolitain du Genevois français. An extension to the Annemasse urban area is already planned for 2027.
