Facing a critical drought, the Usses sector is placed in a crisis situation (level 4/4) until October 31, 2026, imposing water usage restrictions.

Haute-Savoie is experiencing significant degradation of its hydrological conditions, exacerbated by the recent heatwave. The few rainfall episodes have not been enough to sustainably raise watercourse levels, with some tributaries already dry. Tensions on drinking water supply are also being felt in several areas.
In these territories, only priority water uses will be authorized: drinking water supply for populations, survival of aquatic species, animal watering, civil security, public health, and certain agricultural uses.
Consequently, the Usses sector is now placed in a crisis situation (level 4/4) until October 31, 2026. This measure aims to preserve water resources in the face of this concerning situation.
Prohibitions include watering lawns, flowerbeds, and vegetable gardens between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., washing vehicles, filling or topping up private swimming pools, cleaning facades, roofs, sidewalks, and other impermeable surfaces, as well as certain industrial and commercial uses and sprinkler irrigation for crops, except for foreseen exceptions.
Public and private open-circuit fountains must be closed. It is also recommended to prioritize rainwater harvesting.
