Grignan Castle hosts L'Année Sévigné on October 3rd and 4th, an event dedicated to writing, featuring animated film screenings, theater, and readings.

As part of L'Année Sévigné, the Département de la Drôme organized the Correspondances animées (Animated Correspondence) contest. Participants were invited to choose a photograph from the Departmental Archives and write a letter inspired by it, in the spirit of Madame de Sévigné. This project aimed to bridge Drôme's heritage, writing, and contemporary creation.
Three letters were selected by a jury to be transformed into short animated films by the Parmi Les Lucioles films studio, based in Valence. The directors interpreted the words and original photographs to create three distinct visual universes, combining pencil drawings, colors, and textures.
The creation process, documented by the Department, offered a glimpse into the key production stages: project discussions, graphic research, drawings, and the animation of characters and settings. These films give new life to the Drôme archives and the selected correspondences.
