The new « Marius Pillet » Sports Hall was inaugurated on Saturday, October 17th in Saint-Alban-Leysse, marking an enhancement of the local sports facilities and honoring the former mayor, Marius Pillet.
Despite a weekend marked by violence, the inauguration of the « Marius Pillet » Sports Hall in Saint-Alban-Leysse on Saturday, October 17th, conveyed a message of sharing and cohesion. This 'new generation' facility, intended for schools, associations, and residents, strengthens the town's sports offerings, building upon the Sports Plain delivered in 2015.
Located behind the gymnasium, the 720 m² hall includes a dojo of nearly 200 m² and a multi-purpose floor, complemented by a 300 m² outdoor practice area. It will accommodate the physical education classes of the Collège, as well as martial arts, gymnastics, dance, and gentle sports activities for associations.
The building stands out for its architectural and environmental choices, utilizing wood from the Alps and bio-based materials. Geothermal energy and photovoltaic panels covering 800 m² of roofing aim to reduce its carbon footprint, contributing to approximately 20% of the municipal energy needs.
With a total cost of 2.2 million euros, the project received support from the Department of Savoie (€1,063,000), the State through the Prefecture of Savoie (€100,000), and the ADEME, with technical assistance from the Departmental Union of Savoie Energies and Grand Chambéry.
The inauguration provided an opportunity to pay tribute to Marius Pillet, former mayor for 19 years and a sports enthusiast. Named by municipal council resolution on September 10, 2025, the hall perpetuates his memory and the values of generosity, commitment, and collective spirit he embodied.
“
"In just over a year of construction, the teams have delivered a remarkable building, combining wood, mineral materials, vegetation, and light. We wish for this hall to be worthy of the memory of a man: Marius PILLET, who profoundly embodies the spirit of sport and its values."
“
"It's a beautiful, comfortable, and spacious hall. Its dimensions offer new possibilities for our activities. We can work better, in better conditions, which will allow us to progress."
“
"Previously, we had to set up and then pack away over a ton of mats, which required a lot of time and organization. With this new hall, we now have a suitable space and changing rooms. We gain considerable functionality and comfort, both for practitioners and for the coaching staff."
“
"Ideal conditions to practice our activity and continue the judo adventure, from the little ones to the adults!"
