As part of the Communal Biodiversity Atlases (ABC) initiative, 'dark network' studies have been conducted within the scope of several Savoyard municipalities, funded by the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park. These studies, carried out by France Nature Environnement (FNE), have cross-referenced public lighting data with the mapping of nocturnal species' habitats, leading to technical recommendations for public lighting.
In collaboration with local elected officials from the concerned communes, including Ayn, Entremont le Vieux, St Pierre d'Entremont Savoie, and Corbel, the Park and FNE are inviting residents to two evenings to discuss these studies, their importance, and nocturnal biodiversity.
The first evening will take place on Monday, October 12th, in Corbel, at the Salle des Fêtes - La Grange, starting with a welcome at 7 PM. The second event is scheduled for Thursday, October 15th, in Ayn, at the library, also beginning at 7 PM.
The program for these gatherings includes a welcome reception and drinks at 7 PM, a brief presentation on the dark network concept, the challenges of light pollution, and the findings from the studied communes. An interactive quiz and a nocturnal walk led by Hugo Jame, project manager for the Communal Biodiversity Atlas at the Park, and Laetitia Léger from FNE, will also be featured.
