The Sainte-Claire reservoir, operational for 55 years, shows signs of weakness according to the latest 2024 technical assessment. Grand Chambéry has therefore decided to invest heavily in its complete rehabilitation. The goal is to anticipate population growth and secure the drinking water supply for the Bellevue-Calamine sector.
The reservoir's capacity will increase from 12,000 m³ to 16,000 m³, accommodating an additional 10,000 subscribers expected by 2060. These works will also improve well interconnections and ensure the structure meets seismic standards, while integrating aesthetically into its environment as required by the Architects of French Buildings.
The construction schedule will span several phases, beginning this autumn 2026 with preparatory work and company selection. Demolition and reconstruction of the two tanks are planned from June 2027 to July 2029, followed by hydraulic works and landscaping until February 2030.
An information meeting will be held this autumn for affected residents. Measures will be taken to minimize disruption, including using the Chemin de Montgellaz and the private Anatole France road, and traffic on the RD912 will be managed. Service continuity will be maintained during construction.
This project represents a total investment of €10,000,000 HT, financed by Grand Chambéry, with a support request pending from the Rhône Méditerranée Corse Water Agency.
