From September 19 to October 9, the town of Vernaison pulsed with the rhythm of Sustainable Development Week, offering various concrete actions focused on environmental protection.

The week began on September 19 with the participation of about thirty Vernaison residents in the World Cleanup Day. Volunteers cleaned the banks of the Rhône, the town center, and the agricultural plateau, collecting 12.8 kg of ordinary waste, 4.2 kg of recyclables, 5 kg of glass, 1.65 kg of metal, the equivalent of 1,500 cigarette butts, 6 tires, 2 car headlights, and a large television frame. Special mention was given to the divers from the Odysseus association.
On October 8, a screening of the film “Méandres ou la rivière inventée”, organized by the SMIRIL, brought together around forty people. The subsequent discussion highlighted the essential importance of meandering rivers for our ecosystem.
On October 9, as part of “La Nuit est Belle” (The Night is Beautiful), the streetlights in the town center were turned off for an evening dedicated to water. Children, adults, and elected officials shared readings and stories by the light of headlamps and candles, using books and kamishibai lent by the media library.
The event continues with an invitation to the Mobitri collection on November 14, from 9 AM to 4 PM, at the Malpas de Charly parking lot, for bulky items, small appliances, and recyclable materials.
