Since 2016, the Municipal Hall of Saint-Georges-de-Reneins has awaited a new purpose. This historic building, constructed in 1930 under Léon Foillard, hosted festivals, dances, and cultural activities for decades. Today, the municipality is opening the floor to citizens to collectively decide its future.
This citizen consultation formally commits the municipality to implementing the project chosen by the residents. Anyone can submit an idea, within a transparent process where all documents will be publicly accessible. Three commitments underpin this initiative: transparency, equal treatment for all projects, and respect for the outcome expressed by the Reneimois.
The Hall could become a market hall for local producers, a venue for associations, a space dedicated to culture and heritage, or any other use imagined by the residents. No decision is imposed in advance.
The proposal submission period runs from November 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. Residents will vote in April 2027 to select the winning project, with in-depth studies beginning in June 2027.
The building, a piece of communal heritage, has seen its use gradually decline since the opening of La Pirogue in 2016. The municipality commits to preserving the building and its history, organizing a transparent consultation, and implementing the chosen project if its feasibility is confirmed.
The consultation allows any resident, association, or local group to propose a use. Proposals will be examined based on objective feasibility criteria. Selected projects will be publicly presented before the residents' vote in April 2027.
Proposals can be submitted individually or collectively via an official form, available at the town hall or by mail. Support is offered by municipal services for project leaders wishing to structure their proposals.
