Facing the persistence of drought, the Prefect of Rhône has issued a decree placing several areas of the department on reinforced alert, and even crisis level for the lower Saône.

By decree n° DDT_SENR_2026_B183 dated October 29, 2026, the Prefect of Rhône has decided to maintain the drought crisis for surface and groundwater in the lower Saône territory. Furthermore, surface waters in the east of Lyon are placed on alert, and those in the basins of the rest of the Rhône department and the Lyon Metropolis on reinforced alert.
The crisis situation prioritizes essential uses for health, sanitation, civil security, drinking water supply, and animal watering. Domestic uses, including those of local authorities, are largely prohibited. Economic uses, such as agriculture and industry, are severely limited or even forbidden, like high-pressure sprinkler irrigation.
The commune of Morancé is specifically concerned by this decree, finding itself in a situation of reinforced alert.
