On the occasion of European Mobility Week, Université Lumière Lyon 2 is showcasing its initiatives for more sustainable travel, including carpooling, cycling development on its campuses, and an enhanced environmental policy for professional travel.

As part of the Plan AVENIRS, which supports the institution's ecological transition, several schemes have been developed in 2026 to promote sustainable travel. The university is communicating its progress in carpooling, cycling, and integrating environmental issues into professional travel.
The En covoit’ Rendez-vous system facilitates connections between people making similar journeys, particularly for commuting. After several months of operation, it has enabled 252 shared trips by 72 registered individuals, avoiding 617 kg of CO2 and distributing 1,520 euros to drivers. These results highlight the potential of carpooling to reduce the environmental impact.
Regarding cycling, parking spaces are available on the different sites: 58 at the Campus Berges du Rhône, 221 at the Campus Porte des Alpes, and 30 at the Site Vinatier. Additionally, the new Ruche building will feature a bike storage area reserved for staff and a large public bike garage.
The university's new policy governs professional travel, giving greater consideration to the environmental impact of transport modes. This evolution is part of a broader effort to encourage travel solutions that emit fewer greenhouse gases.
These actions are also part of the World Car Free Day on September 22nd and the European Mobility Week, encouraging the discovery of alternatives to traditional modes of transport.
