Following municipal elections, the steering committee of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park has re-elected Lionel Chauvin as its president. He begins a new term focused on economic development, tourism appeal, and environmental protection of the territory.

The Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park has renewed its executive leadership after municipal elections. Lionel Chauvin, who also serves as President of the Puy-de-Dôme Department, has been re-elected to head this institution, the largest in metropolitan France. This reappointment signifies a continued commitment to economic development, tourism attractiveness, and environmental protection.
Building on the experience of elected officials and local stakeholders, Lionel Chauvin's new term will emphasize proximity. The project places central importance on agriculture, pastoralism, the preservation of landscapes and biodiversity, as well as the environmental challenges the territory faces. An open and collective governance is also planned, including an expanded executive and preparation for the revision of the Park's Charter.
The park's steering committee, comprising 51 elected representatives from member communities, elected the 11 members of the new bureau. This bureau is tasked with preparing major decisions and overseeing the day-to-day management of the Park's mixed syndicate. Alongside Lionel Chauvin (President), the bureau includes Yannick Bony (1st Vice-President), Philippe Fabre (2nd Vice-President), Michelle Boudoin (3rd Vice-President), Gilles Chabrier (4th Vice-President), Frédéric Echavidre (5th Vice-President), and Eric Hayma (Secretary).
Established on October 25, 1977, the Auvergne Volcanoes Park spans 120 km from north to south, encompassing 149 communes across the Cantal and Puy-de-Dôme departments. It includes 13 inter-communal bodies, 2 gateway towns, and 5 distinct natural regions: Artense, Cézallier, Monts du Cantal, Monts Dore, and Monts Dômes, with a population of approximately 90,000 residents.
