The new bridge over the Allier River in Cournon-d'Auvergne was inaugurated on Wednesday, November 4th by Mayor Yanik Prière, alongside Hervé Prononce, President of Clermont Auvergne Métropole, and Étienne de la Fouchardière, Secretary General of the Prefecture of Puy-de-Dôme.

This new structure, commissioned by Clermont Auvergne Métropole, addresses the evolving uses of the old bridge built in 1968. Initially intended for technical purposes, it had over the years become a frequent crossing for many pedestrians and cyclists wishing to reach the neighboring town of Dallet.
The renewal project had a triple objective: to adapt the bridge for cyclists and pedestrians, replace the current water pipe, and harmoniously integrate the structure into its environment. The new bridge, wider (5 meters compared to 2 previously) and 70 meters long, thus offers greater comfort and facilitates circulation. Its access points have also been improved to be less steep and more accessible.
Beyond its function of crossing the Allier, this bridge represents a link between places, inhabitants, and territories. It offers new opportunities for walks and sports activities, while facilitating the discovery of natural landscapes and heritage for both residents and visitors.
