The City of Châtel-Guyon is launching its Council of Elders, a new citizen participation body for residents aged 68 and over. Applications open on September 29.

Inspired by the success of its Youth Municipal Council, the municipality of Châtel-Guyon is establishing the Council of Elders. This space for reflection, dialogue, and proposals aims to enable residents aged 68 and over to contribute to the improvement of communal life through their experience.
The main objective of the Council of Elders is to create an exchange platform for seniors, based on listening and a desire to act for the collective interest. Its missions will include gathering reflections and proposals from senior residents, generating ideas that meet the commune's needs, providing a complementary perspective to elected officials and municipal services, and fostering social connection and intergenerational dialogue.
The Council of Elders can be consulted on a wide range of topics concerning life in Châtel-Guyon, including living environment, environment, mobility, urban planning, solidarity, culture, health, and digital issues.
To apply, individuals must be residents of the commune aged 68 or older. The commitment is voluntary and civic, with no compensation or official representation power. The ambition is to form a diverse team, representative of the commune's various neighborhoods and life paths.
The Council of Elders will meet at least four times a year, chaired by a member of the Municipal Council designated by the Mayor. Proposals will be submitted to the municipal council for review. The mandate for members is two years, with the first term beginning on January 1, 2027, and ending on December 31, 2028.
Interested residents can download the application form from the town hall's website and return it via email to mairie@chatel-guyon.fr or submit it in person at the town hall. The application period runs until November 15, 2026.
