As part of October Pink, the municipality of Saint-Genest-Lerpt has launched a campaign dedicated to raising awareness and promoting breast cancer screening. The CCAS and town hall services are available to guide and assist individuals with their procedures. This support will continue for three months to assess its impact and plan future actions.
An awareness session will also be held at the town hall by the Rhône-Alpes coordination center for cancer screening. It will take place on Tuesday, October 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Breast cancer, the leading cause of cancer mortality among women with approximately 12,000 deaths per year, is highly curable if detected early, offering a 5-year survival rate of 99%. It predominantly occurs after the age of 50, and screening is free for women aged 50 to 74.
