The Forez-Est Community of Communes, in partnership with the town of Chazelles-sur-Lyon, has launched modernization works on the water and sanitation network on Rue de Montbrison. The goal is to separate wastewater and rainwater for better environmental protection.

This work involves separating wastewater from rainwater, which are currently collected in the same pipeline. This operation will allow wastewater to be sent to the Chazelles/Viricelles treatment plant for processing, while rainwater will be evacuated separately. The objective is to limit overflow risks during heavy rainfall and contribute to better environmental preservation.
The construction will take place in several phases: until the end of November 2026, work will concern the sector between the Montfuron roundabout and the Avenue du Forez. From December 2026 to January 2027, it will continue between the Avenue du Forez and the Place des Portes.
During this period, occasional disruptions to traffic, diversions, and parking are to be expected. A secure pedestrian path allows access to the Campus des Monts du Lyonnais from the new Forez parking lot.
Following the sanitation works, a second phase will focus on the development of this area, aiming to make it more pleasant, functional, and secure. This project will draw on contributions gathered during a survey.
