This reorganization addresses two key observations: the need for better use of municipal heritage and declining enrollment in some schools. The municipality thus aims to optimize its buildings and adapt to demographic changes.
The current premises of the municipal nursery, located in the Jean Plathey early childhood center, require renovation. After studying several projects, the municipality has decided to reallocate these buildings for more efficient use.
The municipality owns numerous buildings, some of which are underutilized. Their maintenance represents a budgetary cost. The municipal council elected in March 2026 has therefore initiated a comprehensive review to reallocate certain buildings and ensure their optimal use.
Concurrently, enrollment in the municipality's kindergarten schools has been decreasing in recent years. This demographic trend, monitored by the municipality and the academic inspection, leads the community to rethink the use of buildings dedicated to the town's children.
To accommodate kindergarten children in optimal conditions, the Violette Maurice and Michelet schools will undergo modifications. A project management assistant, a specialized firm advising the municipality on such projects, is supporting the municipal technical services.
At the Violette Maurice school, the most recent, work will be limited to installing sanitary facilities adapted for toddlers. At the Michelet school, similar sanitary facilities are planned, and discussions are underway regarding the canteen.
The goal for elected officials is to improve the living environment for students and young children by optimizing the use of municipal buildings. Municipal teams are working together to ensure that both the nursery and the schools offer comfortable, functional, and age-appropriate spaces.
