Throughout October, the municipality of La Talaudière is mobilizing for Pink October, the national campaign to raise awareness for breast cancer screening, featuring decorations, solidarity runs, and prevention messages.

From October 1st to 31st, La Talaudière displays its support for the fight against breast cancer, emphasizing the importance of prevention for everyone.
On Sunday, October 4th, municipal agents and elected officials from La Talaudière will participate in the Sainté Rose event in Saint-Étienne. This event aims to raise funds for the Ligue contre le cancer Loire, specifically financing support care and personalized coaching for those affected by the disease.
On Sunday, October 18th, a walk titled « En marche contre le cancer » (Walking Against Cancer) will be organized jointly by La Talaudière, Sorbiers, and Saint-Jean-Bonnefonds, in partnership with the Ligue contre le cancer Loire. The start point is the Salle du 3ème âge in Sorbiers, with three marked routes offered (6 km, 12 km, 20 km). Participation costs €8 or €10, and a meal will be provided to the first 700 registered participants.
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women, with 61,214 new cases diagnosed in 2023. However, mortality rates are decreasing annually, largely due to earlier detection. The sooner a cancer is detected, the less intensive the treatments and the better the chances of recovery.
The Ligue recommends regular breast self-examination from a young age. Any lump, redness, discharge, or nipple change should prompt a prompt consultation with a doctor, gynecologist, or midwife. Self-examination complements mammography; both are essential. Regular physical activity, recommended at 30 minutes per day, also plays a role in cancer prevention.
To get involved, individuals can find information on the Ligue's website, make a donation (tax-deductible), or create a fundraising page. A free listening service is also available at 0 800 940 939, Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 7 PM.
