Since September 29, 2026, the municipality of Bellegarde-en-Forez has implemented new traffic rules for motorized personal mobility devices (EDPMs), including electric scooters, for a one-year period.

To enhance the safety of all users, the municipality of Bellegarde-en-Forez has established regulations for motorized personal mobility devices (EDPMs), such as electric scooters, gyropods, monowheels, and hoverboards. These rules have been in effect since September 29, 2026, for a duration of one year, in accordance with decree 97T2026.
It is now strictly forbidden to ride on sidewalks. EDPMs must use cycle paths and lanes where available. Otherwise, they may be used on roads where the maximum authorized speed is 50 km/h or less. The speed of an EDPM must not exceed 25 km/h.
The use of EDPMs is permitted for individuals aged 14 years and older. The wearing of an approved helmet, properly fastened, and a reflective vest is mandatory, both day and night. The devices must also be equipped with regulatory features: lighting, an audible warning device, and reflective elements.
Parking on sidewalks remains permitted, provided it does not obstruct pedestrians, particularly those with reduced mobility. Failure to comply with these new rules may result in a fine. The municipality thanks everyone for adopting cautious and responsible riding for the safety of all.
