For the fifth consecutive year, Andrézieux-Bouthéon is participating in the national Pink October campaign by organizing a pink walk. This event, aimed at raising awareness for breast cancer screening, will take place on Saturday, October 17, and involves the City along with numerous partners, including local associations and businesses.
The walk will start at the CABL at 8:30 AM. Three routes of 3.5 km, 8 km, and 9.5 km are offered at a free pace. The shortest loop is accessible to people with reduced mobility and strollers, and a 'joëlette' can be provided upon reservation for individuals with disabilities. Departures will be open between 8:30 AM and 10 AM, with a group start scheduled for 9 AM.
Each participant will receive a pink ribbon at the start. The morning will also feature a warm-up exercise, sports animation, and an exhibition. Funds raised through voluntary participation will be donated to the Loire committee of the League against Cancer. League representatives will be present to provide information on free breast cancer screening for women aged 50 to 74.
Nicole Bruel, deputy mayor in charge of solidarity, emphasized the importance of this collective mobilization: 'When it occurs, cancer affects loved ones and the entire family. The fight against the disease must be collective, and this walk is its symbol.'
As a symbol of its ongoing commitment, the City has also installed pink metallic ribbons on several roundabouts. These decorations, created by the municipal technical center, serve to mark the city's symbolic engagement throughout the year.
