The commune of Andrézieux-Bouthéon will not be recognized as being in a state of natural disaster following the hailstorm on July 16, 2026, according to a decree published in the Official Journal on September 11.

The decision not to recognize the state of natural disaster for the town of Andrézieux-Bouthéon, following the hailstorm that occurred on July 16, was published in the Official Journal on September 11.
Despite the exceptional intensity of the storm episode and the considerable damage it caused, the request for recognition made by the commune to the Prefect of the Loire was processed by state services. The decree states that the phenomenon does not meet the criteria set by Article L.122-7 of the insurance code, as it is neither associated with a tropical cyclonic event nor characterized by abnormal intensity of the natural agent.
Consequently, the state of natural disaster is not recognized by the State for the communes in the affected area. The commune of Andrézieux-Bouthéon acknowledges this decision and invites those affected to continue their claims with their respective insurance companies.
Regarding the damage to its own heritage, the town has also requested various financial supports from its partners, including the State and the department.
