As part of "Septembre Bouge," a national campaign to promote physical activity, educators from the medicine and SMR departments at the Centre Hospitalier de Saint-Laurent-du-Pont offered patients an original challenge: to cover as many kilometers as possible on an ergometer, a device used in their rehabilitation.
To make the adventure more motivating, symbolic routes inspired by the Chartreuse region were proposed to participants, giving a concrete goal to each kilometer covered. Concurrently, patients participated in creating a collective artwork on the theme "The best medicine is movement," engaging their grip, coordination, and cognitive functions.
Thanks to everyone's involvement, 101 km and 310 meters were covered, equivalent to a complete circuit of the Chartreuse massif. The challenge results were unveiled during a friendly meal organized by the nursing assistants in collaboration with the rehabilitation team. The created artworks were then exhibited on the hospital floors, bringing color and cheer to the daily lives of patients and staff.
This initiative is a beautiful demonstration that physical activity, combined with team commitment and shared moments, fully contributes to the well-being and rehabilitation journey of patients.
