Following serious disturbances on Thursday, October 1, 2026, the town of L’Isle d’Abeau has activated its municipal safeguard plan to ensure the protection of the population.

On Thursday, October 1, 2026, the municipality of L’Isle d’Abeau experienced severe incidents, including trash fires, a bus fire, mortar fire, stone-throwing at public facilities and law enforcement, and damage to property and persons.
Given the risks to the population, the town decided to trigger the communal safeguard plan.
The following public facilities are closed until further notice: the Saint-Hubert Gymnasium, the Olympe de Gouges Solidarity Space, the Agnès Varda CAPI Media Library, the Youth Point (Project House), the Municipal Police, and the M. Colucci Residents' House. Reopening is planned for Friday, October 2, with the exception of the gymnasium, the youth point, and the municipal police.
Schools (GS 14 and GS 19) and nurseries located around the Triforium, which were confined mid-day, were deconfinéd in the afternoon. Parents were able to collect their children when possible. School and extracurricular services were maintained at their usual hours.
Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution and avoid the affected areas. Cleaning operations are scheduled for the coming hours and tomorrow morning. The situation is under constant monitoring.
