The municipality of Saint-Étienne de Saint-Geoirs invites young people residing in the town, currently in CM1, CM2, or 6th grade, to join the Youth Municipal Council (CMJ) for the 2026-2028 term. This initiative aims to encourage the civic participation of the youngest residents in the town's life.
For two years, the young councillors will have the opportunity to propose their ideas on various themes such as youth, the environment, or solidarity, meet elected officials, discover the workings of the Town Hall, and participate in concrete projects. They will thus represent the youth of Saint-Étienne de Saint-Geoirs.
No prior expertise is required; simply having the desire to participate, give your opinion, and engage in a collective adventure is enough. The official ceremony for the presentation of the tricolor sashes to the new young councillors will take place on November 11th.
Applications, initially planned for an earlier date, have been extended. Forms must be submitted in the ballot box located in the hall of the Town Hall before Tuesday, October 6th at 4:30 PM.
To apply, candidates must provide an application form (available online), a proof of residence less than 3 months old, and a short letter explaining their motivations and the ideas they wish to champion.
Several key dates are to be noted: a meeting for candidates and their parents is scheduled for Friday, October 9th at 6 PM at the Town Hall, the first meeting of the new CMJ will be held on Friday, November 6th, and the official handover with the presentation of sashes will take place on Wednesday, November 11th.
