The operation, which will be rolled out progressively in the affected municipalities, aims to identify the most frequent sorting errors and provide personalized advice to residents and businesses. Collection trucks will also be equipped with chip recognition systems and an AI device to analyze bin contents during each emptying.
Users will receive two information letters. The first, distributed in October 2026, will introduce the operation. A second letter, sent a few weeks before the intervention in each municipality, will detail the practical arrangements. The operation is completely free of charge and does not require residents' presence. No agent will ask for money.
These new tools will not only help explain sorting instructions better but also recognize and encourage those who sort correctly. The goal is not to control or charge residents, but to gather data to collectively improve sorting quality.
Regarding damaged bins, sorting bins are provided free of charge. Grey bins, however, are the responsibility of residents and are sold at cost price at the Centre Technique du Pays Voironnais in Coublevie.
The municipalities involved in this first phase of deployment by the end of 2026 are: Charancieu from November 2nd, the Villages du Lac de Paladru from mid-November to early December, and Charavines in December. Residents are advised to check their mailboxes for more information.
