The installation will be located within the Ruffier-Lanche Arboretum, a key site for campus biodiversity and recognized as the largest LPO Refuge in Isère. This artistic creation echoes concerns about climate change, highlighting the rapid warming of mountainous regions and its impact on the adaptation capacity of Alpine flora and fauna.
Over the past century, the Alps have already warmed by 2°C, with an average decrease of 40 days in annual snow cover over fifty years. These changes significantly affect numerous species dependent on snow.
Victoria Klotz explains her artistic vision: "Les Demoiselles des sables is an installation composed of sediment towers, topped with stone blocks on which animal sculptures are perched. This geological phenomenon speaks to us of movement, erosion, changes of state, and balance. Much like the climate and its impact on animal species that depend on snow."
This creation was funded as part of the Opération Campus.
