The monumental artwork "The Dragon and the Serpent", created by the UV LAB collective, will be officially inaugurated on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, on the esplanade of the MUSE building in Saint-Martin-d'Hères.

The UV LAB collective will unveil its monumental artwork "The Dragon and the Serpent" on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, between 5:15 PM and 6:00 PM, on the esplanade of the MUSE building, at the heart of the university campus in Saint-Martin-d'Hères. This artistic event is set to be a major occasion.
The installation, featuring two intertwined spirals, draws inspiration from the founding rivers of the Grenoble region, the Drac and the Isère, traditionally nicknamed "the Dragon" and "the Serpent". Funded by the "Opération campus", the sculpture also reflects the history of hydroelectricity and "white coal", which significantly contributed to the scientific and university development of Grenoble.
The artwork also boasts a significant participatory dimension: its form was designed based on responses from over 1,300 individuals from the university community and beyond. This questionnaire covered aspects such as age, city or country of birth, gender, color preference, and whether they preferred mountains or the city. Each response thus helped shape the final geometry of this "landark", or collective data artwork.
