The municipality of Saint-Pierre-en-Faucigny is once again participating in the cross-border event « La Nuit est belle ! » on Saturday, October 10, 2026. This 6th edition, bringing together communities from the Grand Genève area, places water at the heart of its activities for a rediscovery of the night. Rivers, lakes, and wetlands will serve as gateways to explore the territory's natural and sensory riches.
In partnership with SM3A and PAYSALP, a free, family-friendly program is offered, notably at the Jardins de découverte and the Villa Cohendier. Starting at 5 PM, the "Ma maison est une mare" (My home is a pond) activity will invite participants of all ages to playfully discover the essential role of ponds for biodiversity.
At 6:30 PM, an immersive walk titled "Les jardins aquatiques à la tombée de la nuit" (Aquatic gardens at dusk), guided by mediators from the Villa Cohendier and SM3A, will take participants through 8 hectares dedicated to alpine ecosystems. This sensory journey will trace the biodiversity of wetlands, from the sources of the Arve to Lake Geneva.
The evening will continue at the Villa Cohendier with two astronomy initiation sessions at 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM. Participants will learn to navigate the starry sky with the naked eye, lulled by the sounds of the night. Bringing your own binoculars is recommended.
This event aligns with the municipality's strong commitment to environmental preservation, which has already included turning off public lighting from 11 PM to 5 AM since February 2023.
