In October 2026, Rumilly turns pink to support the national breast cancer screening campaign, featuring awareness events and the arrival of a new mammography unit at the hospital.

Throughout October 2026, the town of Rumilly is mobilizing to support the national breast cancer screening campaign. The Town Council, in partnership with the Espace France Service and the Gabriel Déplante Hospital Centre, is offering several events to raise public awareness.
On Tuesday, October 6th, starting at 3 PM, an information stand on cancer screening will be set up in the hall of the Rumilly Hospital by the Regional Centre for Coordination of Cancer Screenings Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (CRCDC AuRA). The aim is to raise awareness about breast cancer screening methods and other pathologies.
On Monday, October 12th, from 8 AM to 12 PM, a "Pink Café" will be held on the Promenade Philippe Perron. The Espace France Services and the CRCDC AuRA will engage with residents to discuss breast cancer screening and other health issues over coffee, offered by Le Sanglier à moustache and the bakery Croq’Levain.
Throughout October, a "Wall of Roses" will be installed at the Espace France Services premises and in the hall of the Rumilly Hospital Centre. This symbolic space will allow everyone to leave a message of support for those affected by cancer. These messages will also be displayed on the town's digital billboards.
Residents are invited to submit their messages of support for display on the town's digital billboards daily from 12 PM to 2 PM. Messages will be accepted until October 11th inclusive. The awareness campaign is also deployed on digital communication channels and the town's billboards, featuring eye-catching content emphasizing the importance of screening.
Several emblematic locations in Rumilly will be illuminated in pink: the Town Hall, La Grenette, the Quai des Arts, the Maison du citoyen, the southern entrance roundabout, and Rue Montpelaz. The Town's social media channels will also adopt Pink October colors.
A significant development for the community: since September 2026, the Gabriel Déplante Hospital Centre is equipped with a mammography unit. This equipment, which had been unavailable since 2023, marks a major step forward in facilitating access to breast cancer screening. Screening is free every two years for women aged 50 to 74, with personalized follow-up provided for those over 74.
