As part of October Rose, the international month for breast cancer awareness, Thonon Agglomération is joining forces with municipalities and associations for a joint campaign titled "Words to support, a gesture to act." This initiative is fully aligned with its Local Health Contract actions.
In France, one in eight women will face breast cancer in her lifetime. When detected early, this cancer is curable in nine out of ten cases. Despite these figures, only 51.5% of women aged 50 to 74 participate in the organized screening by the Caisse Primaire d’Assurance Maladie de la Haute-Savoie, representing nearly 5,831 unscreened women in the Thonon Agglomération territory.
To reach the screening target of 67.2% set by the CPAM of Haute-Savoie, eighteen municipalities, in partnership with associations and health structures, are mobilizing. For the first time this year, Thonon Agglomération is coordinating the publication of a program encompassing all organized actions and events in the area. An advertising campaign titled "Words to support, a gesture to act" aims to inform and raise awareness about screening.
The October Rose 2026 campaign features over thirty events organized throughout the territory from September 26 to October 31, including information sessions, pink walks, conferences, runs, stands, themed evenings, and other activities. All proceeds generated will be donated to associations supporting affected individuals.
The October Rose 2026 program includes four events where it will be possible to see a doctor or directly schedule a screening appointment: on October 12 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and on October 21 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Communal Health Center in Bons-en-Chablais for clinical breast examination by palpation; and on October 20 from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Espace Beaulieu in Thonon-les-Bains for mammography appointment scheduling.
