As part of the Intercommunal Council for Security and Crime Prevention (CISPD), the CCMVR has been committed to road safety prevention for seniors since 2022. These free workshops, organized in partnership with local municipalities and CCAS (Social Action Centers), aim to update the knowledge of individuals aged 60 and over, enabling them to drive with confidence. Five sessions are scheduled for December in the towns of Valprivas, Les Villettes, La Chapelle-d’Aurec, Bas-en-Basset, and Sainte-Sigolène.
Three of these workshops will be led by trainers from the association CapSecur, covering updates to the Highway Code, age-related physiological changes, and practical simulator exercises. In Bas-en-Basset and Sainte-Sigolène, driving license examiners and agents from the Prefecture will lead discussions on traffic rules, roundabouts, country roads, and key risk factors such as fatigue and alcohol. These meetings are primarily for discussion and prevention, not driving license checks.
Road safety awareness also extends to younger generations. In the autumn, activities were offered to students at the Le Monteil and Notre-Dame du Château middle schools in Monistrol-sur-Loire. In late September, 320 sixth-grade students participated in a quiz on pedestrian and cycling rules. In mid-October, approximately 350 fourth-grade students experienced the risks of motorized two-wheelers through a simulator, complemented by an escape game focusing on risky behaviors.
Furthermore, during the All Saints' Day holidays, an educational game called "Autopsy of an Accident" was presented to children aged 10 to 12 at leisure centers. This "serious game" prompts them to analyze accident clues to understand circumstances and reinforce key road safety rules. The CCMVR thus continues its lifelong prevention approach, aiming to foster a shared culture of road safety.
