In June 2026, 38 residents, elected officials, and professionals gathered for four workshops in Rémuzat, Eourres, Saint-Auban-d’Oze, and Buis-les-Baronnies to collectively imagine the future of the Regional Natural Park. The Park's Mixed Syndicate is now releasing the synthesis of these discussions, which form the foundation for the next fifteen years' common project.
During these immersive days, featuring shared meals and collaborative drawing sessions, two groups in each village wrote their envisioned future for the Baronnies Provençales in 2045. The narratives describe new families settling in, keeping schools open, the need for welcoming spaces, and scenes of daily life such as children picking apricot blossoms in the Place du Tilleul in Buis-les-Baronnies.
Several recurring themes emerged across these narratives: the precious and shared management of water, intergenerational solidarity, harmonious coexistence with wildlife (from otters to vultures), and the return of village cafés as meeting places. A common thread is the concept of care – for the soil, the rivers, the young, and the elderly.
These reflections have led to the identification of five major challenges: preserving water and supporting robust, environmentally friendly agriculture; experimenting with new ways of producing and exchanging goods; inventing new forms of community living, housing, and mobility; transforming tourism into an experience of welcome rather than consumption; and increasing citizen involvement in decision-making.
This material will directly inform the drafting of the Park's future charter, which will succeed the current one (2015-2030). True to its approach, the Park's Mixed Syndicate is building this project with those who bring the Baronnies Provençales to life, rather than for them. Therefore, these narratives and challenges will be shared at a public event, "Demain le Parc, ça vaut le détour !" (Tomorrow the Park, it's worth the detour!), scheduled for November 21st in Méreuil.
