On Saturday, October 3rd, the City of Bourg-lès-Valence inaugurated the René Perriolat Square, located on Avenue Jean Moulin. The ceremony was attended by Chantal and Bertrand Perriolat, René Perriolat's children, his family, and numerous residents.
This new public space honors the memory of René Perriolat, born in 1929 in the Valentin district. A witness and participant in Bourg-lès-Valence's transformation after the war, he dedicated a significant part of his life to developing new neighborhoods, particularly in the Jean Moulin, Cyrano, Pasteur, Talavard, Pommarel, l’Allet, les Blachères, and la Bourgaline areas.
As a representative, entrepreneur, real estate agent, and developer, René Perriolat felt he was creating 'The City' each time a new district was developed. He focused on creating vibrant living spaces that combined housing, shops, services, and areas for residents to thrive.
The inauguration of this square serves to celebrate his career, his deep connection to Bourg-lès-Valence, and the lasting impact he left. Special remembrance was also given to his wife Anne-Marie, as well as his children and grandchildren.
By naming this square, the City permanently inscribes René Perriolat's name in a neighborhood he greatly contributed to, thus preserving his memory for future generations.
