A new home hospitalization unit (HAD) has been inaugurated in Ferney-Voltaire, bringing hospital-level care directly to the homes of patients across 26 municipalities in the Pays de Gex.

The Hôpital Privé d’Ambérieu, part of the ELSAN group, has launched a home hospitalization unit (HAD) at the Centre de soins communal Ouest in Ferney-Voltaire. This initiative aims to provide hospital-level care directly in the homes of patients residing in several towns within the Pays de Gex, allowing them to remain in their familiar surroundings, supported by loved ones.
The HAD service covers various medical needs, including palliative care, complex wound dressing, intravenous treatments, post-chemotherapy monitoring, post-operative care, and support for chronic illnesses. A dedicated team coordinates interventions and ensures secure follow-up, working in conjunction with local healthcare professionals such as general practitioners, private nurses, pharmacists, and physiotherapists.
Admission requests can be made by a referring physician or a hospital doctor. Following an assessment by the HAD team, care is initiated with the consent of the patient or their family. Admission typically takes 24 to 48 hours. The unit is also recruiting nursing assistants to expand its team in the Pays de Gex.
This new unit will serve 26 municipalities in the Pays de Gex, including Cessy, Challex, Chevry, Chézery-Forens, Collonges, Crozet, Divonne-les-Bains, Échenevex, Farges, Ferney-Voltaire, Gex, Grilly, Lélex, Mijoux, Ornex, Péron, Pougny, Prévessin-Moëns, Saint-Genis-Pouilly, Saint-Jean-de-Gonville, Sauverny, Ségny, Sergy, Thoiry, Versonnex, and Vesancy.
